Working closely with our manufacturing partners, we refine every fabric through yarn selection, weave construction, finishing, and repeated sampling until it reaches the balance we are looking for. Fabric quality is often reduced to a single number. In reality, no single measurement can define how a textile feels or performs. Different materials are evaluated in different ways, and understanding these measurements helps explain why two fabrics can behave very differently despite appearing similar.

Yarn count describes the fineness of the yarn used to weave a fabric. Higher yarn counts use finer individual fibres, allowing the fabric to feel smoother, lighter, and more refined while maintaining strength. Yarn count is one of the most meaningful indicators of quality in long-staple cotton fabrics.

Thread count measures the number of warp and weft threads woven within one square inch of fabric. While often associated with luxury bedding, thread count should never be considered on its own. Fibre quality, yarn construction, and weaving technique all contribute more significantly to how a fabric ultimately feels. A thoughtfully woven fabric with a moderate thread count will often outperform one with an artificially inflated count.

GSM, or grams per square metre, measures the weight of a fabric. Unlike thread count, GSM does not indicate quality. Instead, it helps describe the character of a material—whether it feels lighter, more structured, or more substantial. Different fabrics are designed to perform differently, making GSM most meaningful when comparing materials of the same type.
